Albany -- Two men are arrested in a bank robbery in northwest Albany Friday morning.
Albany Police Corporal Sherman Battle saw the pair leaving Security Bank about 8:30AM, carrying bank bags.
He called for backup, and the two were captured in the area of the bank near Gillionville and Westover.
Police said the suspects had broken into the bank and were lying in wait for employees to arrive at work.
40-year-old Eric Swafford and 48-year-old Thomas Love are charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, and burglary, with more charges pending.
"We were able to apprehend the two suspects in a short period of time. So we want to thank them and ask to continue to be the eyes and ears of the community, and hold us accountable to be present when they call us when they need us," said Lt. James Williams.
The stolen money was returned. Police say three employees were at the bank at the time of the robbery. At least one of the men was armed with a hand gun, but no one was injured during the robbery.
