Albany - - Water Gas and Light wants to offer more ways for you to pay your utility bill.
Currently, you can pay your bill at the WG&L building and at some banks.
Board members don't feel that's enough.
They asked staff to review the idea of creating kiosks, similar to ATM machines, where you can pay your bill throughout Albany. They would cost anywhere from $9,000 to $12,000, but staff say they don't support the idea.
"We rather look at other methods for customers to pay their bills and keep them in a safe environment because sometimes people get robbed at ATM's. These are the kind of things that we take into consideration instead of jumping into something that could come back to haunt the customer," says General Manager Lemuel Edwards.
Instead, staff want to offer a pay-by-phone option and an online payment option by the end of the year.
