Tifton - - Tift County has been without a county manager for a couple of months now. County leaders are moving forward with hiring a new one.
37 people applied for the job. Tift County Board of Commissioners narrowed the list down to three finalists.
James Carter is the Special Projects in Valdosta.
Lawrence Clark is a former City Manager in Emerson.
Luther Smart is the County Manager in Appling County.
"Governmental experience naturally would be one of the things that they are looking for also. That doesn't have to be the case but it would be very advantageous to have that," says County clerk Glynda Hemby.
Commissioners will interview the finalists next Thursday.
