Cordele --  A convict charged with killing a man hours after being released from prison is on trial in Cordele.

Forty-nine-year old Eddie C. Boyd is accused of stabbing 53-year old Mike Morgan at Cordele Sash and Door during an attempted robbery.

Boyd had just been released from prison that day, after serving nine years for cocaine possession.

Boyd has been in and out of prison for most of the past 30 years for other crimes including armed robbery, burglary, and forgery. His trial continues Wednesday.
