Albany - - Employees at the Marine Corps Logistics Base who are not enlisted in the military are receiving some incentives for the work they do.
MCLB offers scholarships for its staff to further their education through college. Through the Academic Degree Program, staff can receive up to $2400 a year and they can reapply from year to year.
MCLB say it's a good way to prepare civilian employees for meaningful careers.
"It's a retention tool. Once a person is on base, in the Civilian Leadership Development program, It helps them to better understand their jobs which means they can better perform their jobs which means they can make the Marine Crops their employer of choice," says Calvin Roberts of Civilian Workforce Development.
MCLB's Communities of Interest program offers 21 different career categories with up to 150 positions. The career options range from Administration, Education and Training, Medical, to Media and Public Relations.
