Albany - Young students in Albany get a lesson in black history. Morningside Elementary students participated in a black history parade and celebration today, recognizing some African Americans who made a major difference in U.S. history such as Harriet Tubman and George Washington Carver.

First grade student, Darnell Carter says, "Black history parades are fun and you can learn a lot of things by looking at things you can do." "We had the parade today to show the students that a lot of black Americans invented things," says event chairperson Wanda Cheeks.

Students dressed up like famous black Americans for the parade and celebration.
