Thomasville--  The American Humane Association presented the remarkable german shepherd, Hero with the Golden Paw award.

It's a rare honor, and a very prestigious award. Only six or seven have been given out in the last decade.

"This is given out when we find the right and the appropriate animal or human to give it to, so its not an annual award, its an award that when we see something amazing happen, we say that deserves a golden paw award," said Debrah Schnackenberg, Vice President of Animal Protection Services.

Hero was selected after helping an injured woman find her way out of the woods, after she lost control of her car and crashed, several weeks ago.
