Thomas County drug unit makes big arrest

February 20, 2007

Thomasville-- Thomas County sheriff's deputies stopped a gold Toyota on Highway 122 yesterday.  The three people in the car were suspects in an armed robbery in Brooks County.

After being pulled over, the two passengers got out of the car and ran.   "As one of the deputies was chasing one of the suspects he noticed the suspect had a large brick of marijuana or what appeared to be marijuana in his hands. As the deputy closed on the suspect he threw the brick into the field and continued running," said Commander Kevin Lee of the Thomas County Narcotics/Vice Division.

Authorities found the eleven-pound brick of marijuana, as well as the two suspects hiding, four more pounds of dope, two loaded handguns, jewelry, and more than $3,000 cash.

Leon Christopher, Jermaine Herring, and Mario Davis face drug and trafficking charges. Armed robbery charges are pending in Brooks County.
