Albany--  The planning for Albany's first marathon is entering the home stretch and organizers still need your help.

They need volunteers to help with the Snickers Marathon Energy Bar Marathon on the day of the race Saturday March 3rd. They'll hold training sessions this week and next week.

"So we're in hopes that people who maybe haven't had a chance to register as a volunteer will give us a call or sign up on line and plan to attend one of the training sessions either this Thursday or next Tuesday night," said Albany Convention and  Bureau VP Sara Underdown.

The marathon will start and end downtown and will wind through west Albany. There will also be a half-marathon and a fun run. So far, nearly 450 runners from 22 states and one foreign country have registered.

If you want to sign up for the race or as a volunteer, you can call the Chamber of Commerce at 434-8700 or visit www.snickersmarathonenergybarmarathon.com.
