Douglas -- Fire broke out around 2:30 Monday afternoon at the Marine Manufacturing, Inc. Thick smoke billowed from the plant, and could be seen for miles.
Marine Manufacturing makes fiberglass boats for several boat companies. Their plant is in the industrial park south of town on South Peterson Street.
In fact, it's right next door to the Douglas Enterprise newspaper. Cathy Threatt who works at the paper tells us that the fire has raged out of control. She said there's been a series of explosions since it started and the decision has now been made by firefighters to let the building and its content burn out.
Thankfully, all the employees got out okay.
