Time is running out! You better hurry!

February 13, 2007

Albany - There's not a lot of time left.  Hope you've placed your Valentine's Day order or found your loved one something special. With less than 24 hours left, Florists in Albany are keeping busy trying to get those last minutes orders out on time.

It's Valentine's Eve and the rush is on at Always Flowers and Gifts in Albany. "It has been hectic," says owner Ron Carter. "We've gotten everything prepared ahead of time."

Good thing, because not everyone ordered ahead of time.  "I'm getting my mom something for Valentine's day," says LaShaunda McCrary.  She says it may be last minute, but there's a lot of thought behind her gift.  "She'll be happy."

So will John Bolden's mom. He says he wanted to show his mother just how much she means to him. "Everything," he says.  "She's the reason I'm here. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her."

Besides, she's his only sweetheart right now. "The main reason is I wanted to do something special for my mom and auntie, 'cause I really don't have anybody special, ladies."

And it's not just the folks coming in who are keeping Always forever busy, the phone is ringing off the hook.  So, reporter Karen Cohilas answered the call.  "This is Karen with Channel 10, I'm answering the phone right now, because I want to know why folks are waiting until the last minute?  So you just thought about it today? You got busy didn't you?"

And even though the workers here are as busy as they'll be all year, they won't be too busy to take your call. "Even if it's last minute," says Ron, "We'll do our best."

If you got too busy yourself today and forgot to place an order for flowers, most florists are staying open late today and will be back in early in the morning, so it's still not too late.
