Valdosta - A local airport hopes to bring in more business by lowering ticket prices.

Officials at the Valdosta Airport have been pressuring Delta to lower it's ticket prices to and from the city.

They say steep prices were causing them to loose passengers to larger airports.

Late last week, Delta listened.

The prices are now significantly lower for passengers traveling out of state.

They now hope to see an increase in airport traffic.  "I hope we'll see an increase fairly soon but it's going to take a while for people to check the prices out of Valdosta and compare them to Jacksonville and Tallahassee and see it's back to being a decent deal," says Airport Director Bob Holliway.

To get the cheapest flights, they advise booking tickets at least 21 days in advance.
