Hahira - A South Georgia Middle School gets top honors from the state.

Hahira Middle School is a Georgia School of Excellence for greatest continuous gains in student achievement for the past three years in reading and math.

Hahira Middle was one of only 25 schools to be recognized.

School staff say the constant implementation of new programs has helped keep them moving in a forward direction.  "Times change, every few years times changes and kids change and we've got to stay on top of those things in order to serve our community," says HMS principal Kip McLeod.

Lincoln Elementary Magnet in Dougherty County was also recognized as a school of excellence.
