Valdosta - A Valdosta man is hospitalized after being found injured in his car.

Roger Underwood stopped his Jeep Cherokee in oncoming traffic on Baytree Road yesturday afternoon.

City employee Willie Jones and Christine Champion from a near-by business approached the car and noticed Underwood was disoriented and bleeding from his head.

When they tried to help him, he started to drive off...running over curbs and almost hitting a utility pole.  "When he drove away, everyone was like, wait a minute! He's gone! Someone's going to get hurt, so we just took off after him," said Willie Jones, a storm water technician for the City of Valdosta.

They caught up to the jeep, took the keys and called the paramedics.

Underwood was taken to South Georgia Medical Center where he remains in fair condition.

Police are now investigating how he got the head wound.
