Qualifying for open county commission seat begins

February 7, 2007

Albany -- First in line, Muarlean Edwards, the mother of former commissioner Victor Edwards.  She says she wants to improve economic development and make healthcare more accessible for the elderly, mentally and physically challenged.

"A time for enhancement.  That's what I bring, because look what you have already and try to add and put a little flavor here, so hopefully I can add my little part of the puzzle that might be missing," said Edwards.

Qualifying ends at noon Friday. A special called election will be held on March 20th to fill the seat left vacant when Brenda-Robinson Cutler resigned because of health problems.

Cutler also recently pleaded guilty to one count of theft by taking for stealing $19,000 from a client at the Albany Advocacy Resource Center where she worked.
