AARP helps with your tax forms

February 5, 2007

Albany --  Senior citizens can get free help with income tax preparation in Albany and Sylvester through April.

This is the first day Volunteers with the American Association of Retired Persons began their free tax form aid work with Seniors. The nine volunteers, sponsored by AARP, will help fill out South Georgian's senior's income tax forms at the SOWEGA Council on Aging headquarters on Pine Avenue.

"Number one, they don't have anyone to do it for them, and they can't afford it. So it gives us an opportunity to help them," said AARP Tax Aide  Carleen Flowers.

South Georgia senior citizens can receive the tax aide in Albany by calling the SOWEGA Council on Aging for an appointment. They will meet with people Monday and Tuesday through April 10th.

The AARP Volunteers will be in Sylvester at the Public Library on East Pope Street on Fridays.
