Congressman Kingston visits local farmers

February 1, 2007

Valdosta - Migrant workers play a critical role in South Georgia Agriculture.

First District Congressman Jack Kingston met with South Georgia farmers to hear their questions and concerns about the upcoming Agriculture Bill.

He says the bill could effect peanut and cotton farmers in the area.

But most farmer's main concern was their workers.  "One of the biggest concerns in migrant labor because with immigration reform, are we going to have a guest worker program and will we be able to do that and clean up our illegal immigration," Congressman Kingston says.

Congressman Kingston also visited South Georgia Military College in Valdosta to inform the students of some National issues and appeal with them to register to vote.
