Albany - Some clean up has taken place at the Dray line in Albany. After complaints about the appearance of the corner of Washington Avenue and Roosevelt Street, the assistant city manager asked public works to clean it up.
Thursday morning, a fire burning in a barrel was put out by the fire department and then carried away by public works. Trash was also removed from the site. It was raining when we went by and the men who typically gather at the site to find work, weren't there.
Assistant City Manager James Taylor says he had asked people to stop dropping off wood at the site, but they persisted. He then arranged the clean up.
A portable toilet, placed on the lot by the city, remains. City Manager Alfred Lott says it's a basic human necessity and should have been placed there a long time ago.
