Albany - One of the top players for the South Georgia Wildcats will not be back for a third season.
Offensive specialist Chris McKinney has signed to play for one of the Wildcats divisional rival Florida Firecats.
Playing at offensive specialist last year, Chris McKinney set a team record for receptions in one season and also caught 33 touchdown passes.
General manager Darren McPhail say McKinney was interested in returning to Albany.
But one reason he signed with Florida is the Wildcats are on the verge of signing receiver Chavis McCollister.
That meant McKinney would have likely gone back to two-way player status this season.
In just seven games at Macon last year, McCollister caught 62 passes and 22 touchdowns.
McPhail also says there is nothing new on negotiations with quarterback Julian Reese.
