Rams wait for baseball season to begin

January 31, 2007

Albany - Albany State will have to wait a few days longer than most teams to start their season.

Tthe Rams were supposed to open their season as they have done for the last several years down in Miami but that tournament was cancelled probably due to the Super Bowl.

So, instead, Albany State will open on the road next Tuesday at Edward Waters College.

he Rams will have veteran squad led by seniors Chauncey Ward, Stanley Bell, Demario Cash, Darren Jenkins, Brandon Griffin and Deonte Blanton.

Head coach Edward Taylor believes the experience will lead to another SIAC title and second straight trip to the NCAA Division II regionals.

Edward Taylor said "Last year was our first year in school history. And we are trying to win at lease one game down there if we can. Because I know a lot of schools look past us. So, we kind of look forward to them."

The Albany State baseball team's first home game is February 10th against Miles College.
