Sylvester -- Eugene Herman Wyles of Sylvester died today of congestive heart failure. He was 72.

The longtime band director at Worth County High School was inducted into the Georgia Band Director's Hall of Fame two years ago. At the time, he said he was surprised and honored.

Wyles, who most recently worked as band director at ABAC, said he got his start in music from watching his grandparents play.

His funeral is Saturday at 2:00PM at Pinson Methodist Church in Sylvester. Visitation is Friday at 5:00 at Banks Funeral Home.
