Valdosta - Former Miss Valdosta finished in the top three in Monday's Miss America Pageant.
In the annual scholarship pageant, Amanda Kozak finished as second runner up out of 52 contestants.
Kozak won the Miss Valdosta crown in 2005 and took Miss Georgia title last summer.
More than 50 Georgians, including Valdosta Mayor John Fretti, traveled to the pageant in Las Vegas to cheer on Kozak. "It's a proud moment to be mayor, and proud moment for the entire town. She's just a good, good person, very intelligent, very beautiful, and talented and we couldn't be more proud," says Mayor John Fretti via a phone interview from the Atlanta Airport.
Kozak will live in Savannah for the remainder of her reign as Miss Georgia.
