Albany -- The Monroe high school football team had a great season in 2006, going 10-2 and winning the Region 1-AAA championship.
It's the first Region title for the Tornados program.
The team honored by the school system Monday with a "Breakfast of Champions" at the Isabella Complex.
Monroe hosted two games in the state playoffs, and advanced to the second round.
The Tornados bounced back from a three-win season in 2005 to win ten games and go undefeated in the region.
Monroe head coach Charles Truitt says his team met almost all its goals.
"We had three goals in the beginning of the season, and that was city champs, region champs, and state champs. We made two out of three. The kids really played well, and we hope to accomplish that other goal in the near future. Our kids played hard this past season, and being able to be honored by the school system is a big plus and a big positive in the right direction for us."
