Service organizations celebrate its founders

January 21, 2007

Albany -- Two Albany service organizations celebrate Founder's Day at a local church.

Church service at Eureka Missionary Baptist Church was dedicated to the Zeta Phi Beta sorority and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Dozens of members proudly presented their colors and Greek letters to the congregation.

Those involved with the organizations say it's important to honor their past and continue service to others.

"I just did a clothing giveaway back in December which was real nice. We had 71 people come by and get clothes, and we also do Thanksgiving baskets, and we also go to nursing homes, and we go to the schools," said Phi Beta Sigma member Ervin Fulton.

State Representative Freddie Powell Sims attended the event and served as guest speaker.
