Man steals money from sick father

Albany - - An Albany man is found guilty of stealing his sick father's VA money.

63 year old John Johnson, Jr. was taking care of his 82 year old father, John Johnson, Sr. who had Alzheimer's Disease.

The Veteran's Administration approved the younger Johnson to receive his father's checks and use the money to take care of him.

Investigators say, however, Johnson used the money, nearly $15,000, for his own personal use, including gambling.

Johnson was convicted in Albany Federal court and faces sentencing at a later date. He could get up to five years in prison. John Johnson, Sr. is now deceased.
