Albany -- Former Darton College and Tift County high standout Nick Green is on the rise in the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim organization.
The hard throwing righthander has been performing well since the Angels drafted him in the 35th round two years ago, and his change-up is rated the best of any pitcher in the Angels organization.
Green started last season at Anaheim's upper-A level team in Rancho Cucamonga, California, before moving up to the Double-A team in Arkansas.
But the big news coming this week, as Green is a non-roster invitee at the Angels Major league camp.
The invitation is basically a chance for the organization to get a chance to see how Green performs against the big leaguers.
The Former Tift County Blue Devil says he was excited to get the call.
"It's a big thing for me. The whole offseason I was wondering if I'd get the opportunity to go. I asked my agent every couple of days, 'Have you heard anything yet? Have you heard anything yet?' It took awhile to sink it, but it hasn't really hit me yet."
Pitchers and Catchers report February 14th for the Angels.
