January 10, 2007

Americus - Georgia Southwestern forward Norbey Aragon had a career night with 37 points but it wasn't enough to beat the hot shooting Columbus State Cougars Wednesday night at GSW's Convocation Center.

The Cougars hit 12 three-point baskets to blitz the Hurricanes 81-72.

Columbus State shot 57% from the three point line in the first half and made 4-8 attempts in the second halff to finish at 55% for the game.

Norbey Aragon had 27 points in the first half when the Hurricanes led by four points.

But after shooting a blistering 58% from the field in the first half, the Hurricanes cooled to 42% in the second half.

Georgia Southwestern is now 7-6 on the season and 0-3 in the Peach Belt Conference.

The GSW Lady Canes are also still winless in the Peach Belt after losing 89-53 to the Columbus State Lady Cougars.

The GSW basketball teams are on the road Saturday at North Georgia.
