Forty-three-year-old Melvin Davis was convicted of raping a relative of his girlfriend in 2005. The girl became pregnant after the rape.

"The victim was extremely credible. She was very clear about what happened to her, as she had been for the past two years. The jury saw through all the smoke and mirrors, and believed that 14 year old girl's testimony," said Asst. D. A. Christopher Cohilas.

Davis got the mandatory sentence of life without parole. Judge Loring Gray added another 20 years to that.
