Albany - - Military reservists and their children are eligible for state funds to attend college.
The Georgia Hero Scholarships provides up to $8,000 for qualified National Guard members, reservists, and their offspring.
The program started last year and already 200 scholarships have been awarded.
To qualify, the Georgia resident must be active in the National Guard or the military reserves who have served in a combat zone for at least 181 consecutive days since May 3, 2005.
Some children of eligible servicemen may also apply.
