AP -- When 2007 arrives, the US population will have grown by nearly 2.9 million people within a year. Census Bureau data projects the population as of January first will be more than 300,888,000 people.

A new birth will be registered every eight seconds and a new death every 11 seconds in the new year. Every 27 seconds a person will be added to the population through migration.
