Lee County  --  A Lee County mechanic was seriously injured when he was run over by a car he was working on. About 8:30 Wednesday morning, Bill Terry was injured while working on a car at Gillionville Auto Services on Highway 19 South.

Owner Wes Talifero says Terry had crawled underneath a Cadillac, trying to get the starter to work.  When he jumped the starter, the car was in gear, and both sets of wheels ran over him.

The car crashed into the fence at the back of the business. Terry suffered several broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Talifero said Terry broke several company safety rules by crawling underneath the car to work on it like he did.

Terry is in critical but stable condition at Palmyra Medical Center.
