Tifton - Former Georgia football coach and athletic director Vince Dooley loves to the cheer for the Bulldogs.
Only this fall he will have a new group of canines to root on to victory.
Vince Dooley's youngest son Derek was named head coach of the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs over the weekend
During a speech to the Tifton Rotary Club Wednesday, Vince Dooley admitted he tried to talk his son out of giving up a legal career for the coaching profession.
But the elder Dooley says he was no match to debate a son with a law degree.
While the coach and the Dooley family are happy with Derek's new job, the man who spent 25 years on the sidelines in the SEC knows what kind of challenge awaits his youngest son.
Vince Dooley said"He has a got a tough job. But I think it is a wonderful opportunity and he has worked very hard to get there. So, we are very proud of him."
Vince Dooley is very busy signing three books he has authored.
The first is about his 40 years at Georgia, a second on the 1980 national championship season and the third book is a children's book featuring a day in the life of Bulldog mascot Hairy Dawg.
