Parks at Chehaw receive gift

December 20, 2006

Albany - - The Parks at Chehaw received a special gift from one of its major supporters.

The Pecan City Pedalers presented the park a $2500 check. The money came from the group's annual Nut Roll. That's a bike ride that attracts riders from several states.

The Pecan City Pedalers always donate the proceeds to Chehaw. This year the money will help launch a new canoeing program.

"We'll be using their money to go towards scientific materials. That would be anywhere form water testing kits, microscopes, all those types of things," says Jennifer Arledge.

In the past, Chehaw has used the money to renovate its amphitheater, place artwork on a van it uses to visit schools, and build a hay wagon for children's sleep over activities.
