Valdosta - The Valdosta Police brought Christmas cheer to some children.

The Police brought 28 kids between the ages of four and 14 on a Christmas shopping spree at Walmart.

Through the Shop with a Cop Program, each child got a $60.00 gift certificate to purchase some toys on their Christmas wish list.

On top of spreading Christmas cheer, police hope the program will help build a relationship between the department and community.

Officers say they benefit from the program as well.  "The most noticeable reaction is on the face of the officers. I tell anyone, if you take the time and look at the officers, their smiles are bigger than the kids," says officer Vernotis Williams.

Walmart also threw the Children a pizza party and gave them an additional 20 dollar gift card to bring back after Christmas.
