Albany - It's easy to get distracted this time of year with all the stress of the holidays, but one place you don't want to do that is behind the wheel.

Wrecks can often be avoided if drivers stay alert and pay attention to other cars on the road. Fortunately, one wreck in Lee County today was only a fender bender, but taking your mind away of what you're doing, even for a moment, could be deadly.

Cpl. Chad Fallin says, "Be a defensive driver. Don't get involved in that tunnel vision like we tend to do, especially this time of year. You've got your mind on other things. Be aware of your surroundings and look down the road and try to have an escape route if something does occur."

Troopers say they do see more wrecks this time of the year because more people are on the roads in what are often already congested areas.
