Callaway Leaving Georgia

December 16, 2006

Athens -- A source close to the UGA coaching staff says Bulldogs offensive coordinator Neil Callaway will be the new head coach at UAB.

The hiring is expected to be announced Sunday.

Callaway has been offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Georgia since 2001.

He has no head coaching experience, but was assistant head coach at Houston in the mid 1990's.

Watson Brown resigned as the Blazers head coach a week ago after twelve years at the school.

UAB finished 3-9 this past season.

The 51-year-old Callaway was part of two SEC championships and four top-ten finishes in his six years with Georgia.
