Valdosta - It was trial by fire today for new firefighters in Valdosta.

New recruits for the Valdosta Fire Department were put to the test as they practiced putting out a house fire in a condemned home.

Firefighters from Moody Air Force Base also participated in the training.

Many of the new fire fighters joined in October and this was their first time putting out such a large blaze.  "Your adrenaline is going to get going obviously, but you're going to look out for yourself first. This is just training, we're going to get in, stay low, knock it down, keep it from going behind us, and get in and out as quick as we can," says Andy Boutwell, a new fire fighter with the VFD.

Fire fighters from Valdosta, Lowndes and Moody often train together to be better prepared in case of a large scale disaster.
