Albany - For businesses that do sell alcohol on Sundays, they must stop selling at midnight, but there's now one exception to that rule--New Year's Eve.

The Hilton Garden Inn requested an extension on alcohol sales New Year's Eve, until 2:55 AM, and the city granted it. The extension applies to all restaurants and motels that sell alcohol on Sunday.

City Attorney Nathan Davis says, "It will only be the two entities which I call lodging establishments and food service establishments, both of which have to sell at least 50% room rentals and at least 50% food."

Bars that are normally closed on Sundays, will not be allowed to open on New Year's Eve.
