Valdosta - The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce kicks off a plan to encourage business growth in 2007.

The plan is part of a chamber mission to represent local businesses to state and federal officials.

The plan lays out items that 1500 local businesses said were most important to them including affordable health insurance, state sales tax exemption on energy for the production of manufactured goods, and a renewal of the sales tax holiday.  "The number one job creator in Georgia is the retail sector. 1 in 5 jobs are created in that sector. Anything we can do to help the business community create jobs and money flowing into our community makes life better for all of us," says State Senator Tim Golden.

Local elected officials will begin carrying out the plan tomorrow with a visit from Lt. Governor Elect Casey Cagle.

They will continue to work on the agenda through 2007.
