Suspected killer caught on Slappey

December 7, 2006

Albany - A suspect in the murder of a retired realtor was arrested at 2:45 this afternoon at a North Slappey convenience store.

Dougherty County Sheriff's Investigators and the GBI nabbed the man as he walked out of the store.

His arrest follows the discovery earlier today of the stolen car belonging to Pat Murphy.

Investigators spotted the 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis in East Albany, near Turner Job Corps, around 1:00 this afternoon.

Murphy, a retired realtor, was found with his throat slashed in his Lee County duplex yesterday.  Investigators believe he'd been dead for several days.
