Douglas - - The Goldkist Chicken Plant based in Georgia is being taken over by another company.
Pilgrim's Pride Corporation is purchasing the company for 1.1 billion dollars.
The take-over is effective December 27th.
A representative from the company says Pilgrim's Pride does not plan on closing any plants as a result of its new ownership.
Goldkist's headquarters are in Atlanta. It has a plant in Douglas.
