Albany -- Thousands of people gather in downtown Leesburg for an event many call an annual family tradition.

It was the Christmas parade in town square. Law enforcement agencies, businesses and organizations prepared floats and displays for the parade. Despite the chilly weather this morning many people say they wouldn't miss it.

"It's a good time to get together. I have a son who's going to be marching in the parade. It's for the ROTC, Leesburg's ROTC, and we're family going to watch him," said Wanda Retzel.

The Lee County Chamber sponsors the event which gave families a way to enjoy holiday cheer.
