Albany -- A group that fights for equal rights took time to celebrate the holiday spirit.
The National Federation of the Blind Southwest Georgia Chapter gathered for its annual Christmas party at White's Seafood Restaurant in Albany, enjoying good food, an awards presentation, and Christian fellowship together.
There are 20 people in the group who work to make sure blind people have equal opportunities in the working world. The group also lobbies in Washington, DC to get more laws that help the blind.
"I want people to know is how we do everything just like everybody else does, and we're able to work and do a job just like everybody else," said Max Parker.
The group has an upcoming trip to Capitol Hill to meet with Georgia lawmakers Senator Saxby Chambliss, Congressman Sanford Bishop, and other state leaders.
