Albany -- APD got a Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic grant for the third straight year.

The Governor's office of Highway Safety gave APD's Heat unit more than $112,000 to continue keeping Albany's roads safe. The money will help pay for salaries, updated equipment, and training expenses.

Albany HEAT officers ticket more than 300 traffic violators a month.

"We have others who are not happy they are getting pulled over all the time, but that wouldn't happen if you weren't speeding. For the most part it's been getting good reviews," said Sgt. Tony Moore.

APD has two heat officers. Albany is one of 11 cities statewide to receive the grant.
