County likes on-line auction

November 27, 2006

Albany  --  An online auction website, used by governments to sell surplus equipment is paying off for Dougherty County.

In the first round of auctions by the county, they made more than $83,000 selling old vehicles, like Chevy Luminas and Crown Victorias, as well as tractors and dump trucks.

Similar items selling in a traditional one day local option, only brought in about $40,000.

Gov-deals allows the auction to remain open for 30 days, and bids can be made from all over the country.

The second round of surplus on auction for Dougherty County is currently up for bidding.
