Albany - - Even though school was out Friday, some middle schoolers in Albany spent the day working for a good cause.

About 15 students from Albany Middle School's basketball team volunteered to help the Salvation Army.

They stood outside of the Albany Mall ringing bells for the organization's Red Kettle campaign.

Albany middle school's basketball team's motto is "it's about giving back" so students felt helping raise money for families in need fits right into their goal.

"Anything will do because people get hurt and we're trying to feed them because they're running low on supplies," says 7th grader Eric Harris.

"Put ourselves in their position, we'd want someone to help us," says 7th grader Jerrell Alexander.

The school's basketball team has participated in this campaign for the past six years.
