Albany-  Some shoppers got a jump on Black Friday by hitting the stores Thursday morning before their big meal.

Both K-mart and Wal-Mart were open Thanksgiving in Albany. Many shoppers took advantage of the one day sales to pick up holiday gifts or something they forgot for their big meal. At K-mart, Thanksgiving shopping has become a tradition.

"This is a tradition for K-Mart, we've always been open now, probably for about 10 years on Thanksgiving day and we've got some specials for all of the customers who come in and take advantage of them," said Derrell Robinson, K-Mart Store Coach.

K-mart was expected to see more shoppers in the evening after their big meal.  Employees won't get much of a break, K-Mart be open early Friday morning for the real start of holiday shopping.
