Albany- The high school basketball season is off to a great start.
The Westover Patriots edge Dougherty in an overtime thriller 76-74 at the Albany Civic Center on Tuesday night.
Earlier, Monroe looked very impressive in their season opener with a 70-48 victory over the Albany High Indians.
In the girls games, Westover holds off Dougherty 49-37 and it was the Albany High Squaws winning their season opener 36-29 over the Monroe Lady Tornadoes.
And in private action, Deerfield-Windsor beats Stratford 39-34 in the Tattnall Tip-Off Tournament in Macon.
The Lady Knights win ends a 60 game winning streak for Stratford whose last loss came to Deerfield-Windsor in the 2004 GISA AAA semifinals.
