Pre-Thanksgiving dinner 20 year tradition in Albany
November 20, 2006
Albany- Thanksgiving isn't until Thursday, but an Albany church got a jump on the holiday, serving up close to 200 meals Monday afternoon.
For the last 20 years, the Hines Memorial C.M.E. Church on North Madison has been dishing up a hot Thanksgiving dinner for those in need in their neighborhood. Over the years the meal has grown to cover anyone in need. They also made sure those who came had food for the week.
"Also along with doing the dinner we give food, grocery bags, bags of groceries to these people also," Marye Wright, Missionary Society Past Pres.
The lunch lasted from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday and the food was donated by church members.
