Albany -- Hundreds of south Georgians welcomed a special visitor from the north to the Albany Mall Friday night.

Santa Claus rode into the mall merrily on a holiday train. He was greeted by many adoring fans, young and old alike.

The big man in the red suit took pictures and shared in the holiday fun. Parents say it was a great family event full of Christmas tradition.

"There are so things to do anymore where you can bring the whole family, so I think this is a good event. It's nice, it's safe, it's warm, since it's cold outside tonight. It's just a good time," said Jenny Fabbri.

The festivities included Christmas carols and karaoke before Santa's arrival.
